The Initial Needs
Analysis
When we meet with you for the first time, the first step is an initial needs
analysis. This can take anywhere from 5 minutes for a small problem, to a couple
of hours for larger problems. This is where you describe to us the problems
you're having with managing your information. We ask whatever questions we need
to get all the information we need to prepare an initial solution proposal for
you, including a rough cost estimate.
Up to this point, you haven't spent any money on our services. The needs
analysis and initial solution proposal are completely free and have no
obligation attached. If you decide you would like to proceed, then we will begin
the project.
Project Definition and Development
After you have decided to proceed with the project, we will work with you to
prepare a detailed project definition. This document will outline the specific
functions that the program will be required to perform, including, where
appropriate, a list of forms and reports and other features. Once you have
reviewed and approved this plan, we will begin programming. However, we won't
shut ourselves in a room and come out 3 months later with a finished product.
Instead, we keep you very much involved in the development of the project. We
consult with you throughout the entire development phase, showing you screen
shots, giving demonstrations, and most importantly, asking lots of questions to
make sure that we understand completely what you need. This gives you an
opportunity to make changes or add features that you didn't think of. Very
often, when our clients view a demo of the program we are developing for them,
they will say "That's neat. Can you make it do this too?" The benefit
of custom software development is that you get EXACTLY what you want, and ONLY
what you want. You're not paying for features that are of no benefit to you.
Implementation and Ongoing Support
When the program is complete, we will install it at your location, including any
hardware or network upgrades required. We will then work with you to ensure that
everyone is comfortable with how to use the software, and how to gain the
maximum benefit.
