Financial Business English Course.
Duration of the Financial Business English Course
The Financial Business English Course consists of a minimum of 48 academic hours of instruction in the English language. The course may also be arranged as an intensive, normally every day over two weeks. The course normally consists of 2 academic hours per day of classroom instruction, 2 times a week for 3 months. At the end of the 3 month period, the course is analyzed for progress and may be extended if desired.
Course Objectives
The Financial Business English Course is designed for intermediate / higher intermediate students of English who use their knowledge of the language in the workplace; in this context Financial English isn't a special language with a special grammar - it's simply English used in business situations. The Financial English Course is an English course designed for people working in a department related to finance. The course objective is to assist business people in improving their writing, conversation and comprehension, in meetings and/or situations related to the work they perform.
The Role of the Instructor
The ABC Financial Business English instructor has the following role:
1. Design a syllabus for the course based on an initial needs analysis of the group, and adjust it when necessary.
2. Create a course structure and professional atmosphere conducive to progress.
3. Encourage and create communication between teacher and students, and student to student.
4. To teach correct pronunciation and contemporary business conversational skills of a native English speaking nature.
5. To identify student strengths and areas for improvement on a daily and weekly basis.
Special attention is also given to unrehearsed or natural conversation, as well as fluency practice and the correction of English language mechanics.
Materials Utilized
The ABC instructor normally selects one of the following English language texts:
English For International Banking & Finance (Textbook designed for promoting business communication within professional environments).
Bank On Your English / The Language Of Accounting (A series of business textbooks that place emphasis on specific business contexts).
* The instructor may also use different business texts for more specific purposes, such as newspapers & periodicals.
