Thank you for expressing an interest in the Academy of International Business Collaboration (ABC). Following is some information concerning our course of Telephone English for Secretaries.

The course is meant for advanced beginner to low intermediate English speaking support staff, and consists of twenty-four hours of study with our Secretarial / English language training specialist. The first part of the course consists of basic telephone skills training and the second part of putting those skills into practice. The training will be divided as follows:

The first lessons are devoted to learning Basic Telephone Language; the students will listen to and review cassette tape-scripts every day:

Day 1 Starting the Call

Day 2 A bad line, The Boss is out, Answering machines, The wrong number, Number revision

Day 3 Telephone numbers

Day 4 Spelling clearly, The date, Taking an address, Telling the time, Prepositions

Day 5 Basic Language Revision

The last lessons are devoted to practical hands-on experience. The students will also continue to listen to and review cassette tape-scripts each day. The students will have home-work assignments that will include cassette listening exercises.

Students’ English language skills will be tested prior to the start of the course, at no additional charge. The charge for this course is $ 960.00 per group for 24 hours of instruction (with recommended group size of approximately 6 students). There is a charge of $ 30.00 per student for books, cassette, and all additional handout materials.
